Police say the adult male with a gunshot wound—who is believed to have carried out the initial stabbings—was pronounced deceased shortly after arriving at the hospital. The adult female victim was pronounced deceased late Tuesday evening.
The third adult male who was injured remains in critical condition as of Wednesday.
According to police, there were five family members inside the home during the incident. At this point in the investigation, police believe that the adult male committed the stabbing and another male inside the home shot him to stop him from causing further injuries.
Police say the case is still a very active investigation and that all involved weapons were recovered at the scene. No additional suspects are sought. Police say that their investigation and reports have yet not been submitted to the Ramsey County Attorney’s Office for charging review.
“Please respect the involved family members and their residence. This was a very violent, traumatic, and tragic incident for this family. I am saddened by the loss of life and our prayers are with the survivors and family members involved in this incident,” North Saint Paul Police Chief Phil Baebenroth said in a written statement.
A motive has not been confirmed and the identities of those involved has not yet been officially released.
