2 Killed, 3 Injured After Crash Sends Car Into Minneapolis Bus Shelter
Two women were killed, and three others were injured after a two-vehicle crash Monday morning in north Minneapolis that ended with one car hitting a bus shelter.
Minneapolis police say the crash occurred at about 10:20 a.m. at the intersection of Emerson Avenue North and 26th Avenue North.
A car traveling eastbound on 26th Avenue collided with a northbound vehicle on Emerson, causing the eastbound car to crash into a nearby bus shelter.
A 17-year-old boy waiting for a bus to school was struck and suffered non-life-threatening injuries, according to police.
Two women in the eastbound car were critically injured. One was pronounced dead at the scene, while the second was taken to North Memorial Health Hospital, where she died.
A man and a woman in the northbound vehicle were transported to the hospital with life-threatening injuries.
Investigators believe speed may have been a factor in the crash. Police say no arrests have been made, and the investigation is ongoing.
“This is a heartbreaking incident that has devastated multiple families,” Police Chief Brian O’Hara said. “It’s a reminder of how quickly lives can be impacted on the road.”
Authorities are asking anyone with information about the crash to contact Minneapolis police.
