2 Suspects Charged in Faribault Child Sexual Abuse Case
A man and woman from Faribault have both been charged with multiple felonies after an investigation into allegations of child sexual abuse.
According to court documents, Jordan Lee Schoen, 39, and Katrina Noelle Doneux, 34, were charged in Rice County District Court in connection with alleged abuse that took place between Dec. 2019 and Dec. 2021.
Authorities began investigating after a juvenile female victim disclosed incidents of sexual abuse to a school official, which led to a forensic interview at a hospital. The victim, born in 2010, told investigators that Schoen and Doneux engaged her in sexual activities when she was nine or ten years old. She described being encouraged to watch and participate in sexual acts involving both Schoen and Doneux, who allegedly framed the encounters as a “safe place” for her to explore her curiosity.
The child said the abuse occurred over an extended period, primarily at their residence in Faribault.
Schoen faces three felony counts, including first-degree criminal sexual conduct involving penetration of a child under 13 and first-degree criminal sexual conduct involving multiple acts over time with a significant relationship to the victim. Doneux faces identical charges. If convicted, each could face up to 30 years in prison per first-degree charge.
Authorities interviewed both defendants, who confirmed they had lived with the victim at the time but denied the allegations. Doneux reportedly stated that she used explicit language in discussing human sexuality with the victim but denied any sexual contact. Schoen, who claimed to have memory lapses and dissociative identity disorder, also denied any wrongdoing but admitted to watching pornography and using pornographic video games.
Schoen allegedly told the juvenile victim “he had multiple people in his head” and that he “had a little boy in his head who had a crush on her,” according to the court documents. He said he had no memory of anything happening like what the victim alleged.
A warrant was issued for Schoen’s arrest and he is currently in custody. Doneux has been issued a summons to appear in court.
