Minneapolis police say a man in his 20s was fatally shot late Saturday night on the 2900 block of Grand Avenue South. Officers from the Fifth Precinct responded to reports of a shooting at approximately 10:47 p.m. on August 31.

Upon arrival, officers found a man outside with life-threatening gunshot wounds and provided immediate medical aid until EMS arrived. Despite their efforts, the man died at the scene.

A second man in his 20s was also located with at least one apparent non-life-threatening gunshot wound. He was transported by ambulance to Hennepin Healthcare for further treatment.

Preliminary information suggests both men were part of a group walking on the sidewalk when the shooting occurred. Possible suspects were seen fleeing the scene on foot, but no arrests have been made.

Officers secured the area and conducted a search for evidence, with MPD forensic scientists processing the scene. Investigators are working to determine the circumstances that led to the shooting.

The identity of the deceased will be released by the Hennepin County Medical Examiner, along with the cause and manner of death.
