Human Remains Found in 2 Locations in Northeast Minneapolis
Minneapolis police are investigating a suspected homicide after a 911 caller found "body parts" near the 300 block of Main St. NE. around 9:30 a.m. Thursday.

It was initially reported by a passerby who said they found a human leg wrapped in plastic, according to initial scanner dispatches. Minneapolis Police Department spokesperson John Elder confirmed the news in an early afternoon media conference downtown.
Elder said later Thursday that additional human remains were found in the area of 3rd Ave. NE. & University Ave. NE., just a few blocks from the initial location. The victim is believed to be a white male in his 30s, Elder said.

Elder said from initial investigation of the remains, police believe the man’s injuries would have been fatal and that authorities are treating it as a homicide, which would make it the 43rd homicide of 2021 in Minneapolis.
"We have not recovered all of the parts necessary," Elder said, noting a cadaver dog and search team did not turn up any additional items apart from the two locations. The remains were apparently from the same victim.
Elder did not give more details on what exactly was found by investigators, but said the items were found outside and their level of decomposition was “fresh.”

UPDATE: Minneapolis police on Friday identified the victim as Adam Richard Johnson, 36, of Minneapolis.
