Man Arrested After Firing Gun, Barricading Himself in Oakdale Home
Oakdale police arrested a 35-year-old man early Tuesday after he reportedly fired a gun inside a home and barricaded himself inside.
The incident prompted a response from the Washington County SWAT Team.
Officers were called to the home on the 2800 block of Granada Avenue around 4 a.m. after a woman fled the residence and reported that a man had fired a handgun inside, according to the Oakdale Police Department.
The man, identified as Kaylin Lee Washington of St. Paul, refused to cooperate with officers and remained barricaded in the home. Crisis negotiators attempted to communicate with Washington, but after he failed to respond, SWAT officers deployed chemical munitions.
Washington ultimately surrendered and was taken into custody without further incident. He was booked into the Washington County Jail and is awaiting assault charges.
Police issued a Code Red alert to notify nearby residents of the situation. That alert was lifted after the incident was peacefully resolved.
In a statement, Oakdale police thanked the community for their patience during the response to the "evolving situation."
No injuries were reported, and the investigation is ongoing.
