The Minnesota State Patrol says a 39-year-old man from Burnsville has died after a three-vehicle crash on Interstate 35 near 210th Street in Lakeville early Saturday morning.

The State Patrol says just before 1:30 a.m., a 2022 Lincoln Aviator was traveling southbound on Interstate 35 towards 210th Street West when the driver struck a 2020 Toyota Corolla from behind. The driver of the Aviator didn’t stop at the scene of the crash and sped southbound, where it crashed into a semi-trailer at a high rate of speed. The driver lost control of the Aviator and went off the road into the median, struck cable barriers and rolled. The State Patrol says the driver was ejected from the vehicle.

The semi was driven by a 44-year-old Fargo man who was not injured.

Mark Elliot Pasvogel has been identified as the driver of the Lincoln Aviator. The State Patrol says he was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash and alcohol is believed to be a factor. Pasvogel was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Southbound lanes of I-35 were closed into the early morning hours as crews investigated the crash.
