Man Shot in Downtown Janesville; 2 Suspects Arrested
Gunfire interrupted the normally quiet downtown area of Janesville Tuesday afternoon, leaving one man seriously injured and a vehicle strewn with bullet holes outside the post office on Main Street.
The Waseca County Sheriff’s Office confirmed initial reporting from MN CRIME that the male victim was airlifted to a hospital.
He was found inside a vehicle near the post office at 101 N. Main St. after the initial report around 3:17 p.m.

Initial information says that the shooting occurred a short distance away and the victim was able to drive to where he crashed near the post office.
According to initial EMS dispatch audio reviewed by MN CRIME, the victim is a male around 26 years old who had multiple gunshot wounds, but authorities have not yet named the victim nor the suspects.
KEYC-TV reported the victim was in stable condition at the hospital late Tuesday.
In less than about 20 minutes of the initial shooting, a suspect vehicle was stopped heading eastbound on Old U.S. 14, west of Co. Rd. 33. Officers took two males suspects into custody, but their relation to the shooting is still unclear.
Janesville is around 15 miles east of Mankato and has a population of about 2,500.
Followers in the area said a large section of downtown was shut off to traffic as investigation of the shooting continued.
“No officers were involved in the shooting and no injuries to officers occurred.. The investigation is ongoing. We do not believe there is any further threat to the public,” a brief media release from the Waseca County Sheriff’s Office said.
