Man, Woman Dead in Suspected Murder-Suicide in Saint Paul
SAINT PAUL—Police confirm a man and woman are dead after an apparent murder-suicide inside a residence on the 2000 block of California Ave. E. around 9:15 p.m. on Tuesday night.
Police say a child initially called 911 to report the incident.
Officers arrived and found the victims, both adults, who were pronounced dead at the scene.
Initial law enforcement dispatch audio reviewed by MN CRIME indicated that the man reportedly first shot the woman before turning the gun on himself, but officials have not yet confirmed that information.
Police said the man, Yia Xiong, 33, is suspected of shooting and killing Ka Lor, 30, in the couple’s home before fatally shooting himself.
Officers found a gun at the scene.
The couple’s five children—who police confirm are aged 2-9—were all home at the time of the shooting. There were no other injuries.
Officers closed the block of California Ave. E. in the Northern Hayden Heights neighborhood, with crime scene tape stretched across the street. Detectives were at the scene into the early morning, collecting evidence in what SPPD called a “tragic incident.”
Police say there are no suspects being sought.
