Maplewood Firefighters Extinguish Apartment Fire
Maplewood firefighters responded to an apartment fire on the 500 block of Skillman Ave E on Saturday afternoon. Residents reported smoke on the first floor and evacuated the building. Firefighters determined an apartment on the first floor had caught fire.
A resident reported that there may have been a victim still inside the apartment. Crews searched the unit and did not find anyone inside. Firefighters were able to knock down the fire quickly and contained it to one unit.
The American Red Cross was called to assist a resident that was displaced due to the fire. There were no initial reports of injuries.
