South Minneapolis Shooting Leaves Man Dead, 3 Hurt

A man was shot and killed early Sunday morning after an argument led to gunfire at a residence on the 2700 block of Blaisdell Ave. S., Minneapolis police have confirmed.

Three other people were hurt when the shots rang out shortly before 2:25 a.m.

Officers arrived to find bullet damage to the outside of the residence and a large crowd still inside, per initial scanner dispatches.

One neighbor reported hearing at least 30 rounds fired.

Police found one man with a fatal wound who died at the scene. Two other adult male victims had non-life-threatening injuries and an adult female had possibly life-threatening injuries, MPD said.

The man who died at the scene has not been identified.

The three other victims were transported by EMS to the hospital and there have been no arrests announced in connection.

MPD says preliminary info suggests that a “verbal altercation” at a gathering inside the residence sparked the eventual gunfire. It’s not yet clear if there were multiple shooters.

Police say very little suspect information was provided by those at the scene.

The killing is being investigated as the 12th homicide of 2022 in Minneapolis.
