70-year-old Pedestrian Killed in Plymouth Crash
The Minnesota State Patrol is investigating a fatal crash Saturday evening in Plymouth.
Authorities say the crash happened around 8:20 p.m. on eastbound Highway 55 near South Shore Dr.
Initial law enforcement radio dispatches indicated a pedestrian had been struck by a driver and bystanders were performing CPR on the individual at the scene.
The State Patrol says a Subaru Forester was eastbound on Highway 55 and at the intersection of South Shore Dr. the driver had a green light. The pedestrian was crossing the highway against the traffic light and was not in the crosswalk.
The State Patrol says alcohol was not involved for the driver but the pedestrian victim is suspected of being impaired. He was identified as a 70-year-old man from Minneapolis but as of early Sunday had not yet been named by authorities.
Eastbound Highway 55 was closed while emergency personnel investigate the crash and authorities advised motorists to find alternate routes.
