Teen Killed, Another Critically Injured in Saint Cloud Apartment Shooting

A 17-year-old male was killed, and a 19-year-old male was critically injured in a shooting early Sunday morning in Saint Cloud.

Police responded to reports of gunfire inside a building in the 200 block of 2nd Street NE at 2:55 a.m.

Officers arrived to find the 19-year-old victim from St. Joseph in a first-floor apartment hallway with gunshot wounds. He was transported by Mayo Ambulance to St. Cloud Hospital, where he remains in critical condition.

A 17-year-old gunshot victim was found in a stairwell between the first and second floors and was pronounced dead at the scene.

The victim was identified by authorities as Layson Davis, a 17-year-old male living in Saint Cloud.

Investigators believe the victims and suspects knew each other, and the shooting was not random. It is unknown if any suspects are in custody. The Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension is assisting with the ongoing investigation.

UPDATE | Wednesday, Feb. 5

Saint Cloud police say that on Feb. 4, Olivia Sandra Williams, 19, and Quinton Lynell McNeal, 19, both living in Saint Cloud, were arrested in connection to the shooting. Both were transported to the Benton County Jail pending formal charges. The case remains active and police say additional arrests are expected. The second victim of the shooting remains in critical condition at the hospital as of Wednesday.
