2 Dead After Head-on Crash Near Taylors Falls
A head-on collision on Highway 8 in Shafer Township left two people dead on Monday afternoon.
Authorities say the crash occurred around 12:39 p.m. at the intersection with Milltown Road in Chisago County.
According to the Minnesota State Patrol, a 2008 Honda Civic, driven by a 59-year-old man from Amery, Wisconsin was traveling eastbound on Highway 8 when it crossed the center line and struck a 2020 Mazda CX-5 head-on. Two women, ages 55 and 61, from Minneapolis, were the only occupants of the Mazda.
The driver of the Honda and a passenger in the Mazda died in the crash. The current condition of the Mazda driver is unknown. Road conditions at the time of the crash were reported as wet.
The Chisago County Sheriff’s Office and the Polk County (Wisconsin) Sheriff’s Office assisted at the scene. The names of those involved are expected to be released on Tuesday.
