Woman Dies in Robbinsdale Apartment Fire

A Robbinsdale apartment fire early Tuesday morning left one woman dead and displaced dozens of residents.

Robbinsdale Police and Fire Departments were dispatched to the 4300 block of Robbins Landing around 5:20 a.m. after reports of smoke and fire in a third-floor hallway.

Responding officers located the affected apartment but were unable to enter due to thick black smoke. Despite calling out for occupants, there was no response.

Residents of the senior living facility were evacuated and placed on Metro Transit buses for warmth and shelter. The building houses individuals aged 62 and older or those with disabilities, complicating the evacuation due to mobility issues.

Firefighters entered the apartment and found the woman, but she was pronounced dead at the scene despite lifesaving efforts. The fire was contained to a single unit, though other apartments sustained water damage.

Authorities including the Minnesota State Fire Marshal’s Office are investigating the cause of the fire. The identity of the deceased, along with her cause of death, will be released by the Hennepin County Medical Examiner's Office in the coming days.

This marks Robbinsdale’s first fire-related death of 2024, officials confirmed.
