Woman Killed in Minneapolis Crash Early Monday

Minneapolis police say a woman is dead and another has potentially life-threatening injuries after a single-vehicle crash early Monday.

Police were called to the intersection of 12th St. S. & 3rd Ave. S. around 2:30 a.m. Monday on a report of a vehicle that had crashed into a traffic pole.

Officers arrived and found an adult female driver with fatal injuries on scene.

A female passenger in her 30s suffered injuries considered “potentially life-threatening,” MPD said. She was transported to Hennepin Healthcare by paramedics and an update on her condition was not provided as of late Monday.

Police say a preliminary investigation shows the passenger vehicle passed through the intersection before striking the traffic pole on the southwest corner. According to police, speed is a possible factor in the crash.

Investigators from the Minneapolis Traffic Investigation Unit and forensic scientists responded to process the scene and collect evidence.

The deceased woman has not been identified as of Monday evening. The Hennepin County Medical Examiner’s Office is expected to release her name, along with the cause and nature of death at a later date.
