‘Operation Metro Surge’ Ending After 4,000+ Arrests

Authorities say the suspect fled the homicide scene and was later killed during an exchange of gunfire with deputies after a pursuit on Grand Avenue around 9:40 p.m.
Willie Ezekile Bennett Stevenson, of Saint Paul, is charged with third-degree criminal sexual conduct involving penetration through coercion.
Officers were called around 8:20 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 7, to the 3000 block of 40th Avenue South after a person went to check on the woman and found her dead inside the apartment.

The indictment says the case involved filing false tax returns, attempting fraudulent bank transactions and recruiting others to submit similar filings.
Investigators later identified the woman as 22-year-old Hallie Tobler and the man as her husband, 23-year-old Dylan Tobler, both of Saint Cloud.
The attack happened around 10:15 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 7, when police were called to a report of an assault in progress at the victim’s apartment, Otter Tail County authorities say.

Prosecutors charged 45-year-old Andrew Clayton Freeburg, of Norwood Young America, with felony counts tied to alleged tax violations and benefit fraud.
Prosecutors allege James Dale, of Anoka, Shaun Blankenship, of Minneapolis, and Tara Molnau, of Norwood Young America, were all tied to additional burglaries in the area.
Deputies were called just before midnight Friday, Feb. 6, to a report of an assault that was later determined to have happened at a residence on Edgewater Circle in Garrison Township, just north of the county line.
