1. Ownership of Content
All written articles, photographs, graphics, videos and social-media materials published under MN CRIME or Midwest Crime are the exclusive property of MN CRIME LLC and are protected by U.S. copyright law. No rights are granted except as expressly stated in these terms.
2. Permitted Use and Attribution
Outlets, journalists and organizations may quote or republish limited portions of MN CRIME or Midwest Crime content under the following conditions:
- Attribution:Credit must clearly state the source as "MN CRIME" or "Midwest Crime". For online use, attribution must include a direct, do-follow hyperlink to the original article or video. For broadcast or print, include "Courtesy of MN CRIME / Midwest Crime" in the narration or caption.
- Extent of Use: Short excerpts or embedded videos may be used for news commentary, educational reporting, or community updates. Full-article reproduction, full-video reposting, or automated scraping is not allowed without written authorization.
3. Prohibited Uses
Without prior written permission from MN CRIME LLC, the following are strictly prohibited:
- Republishing full stories, transcripts or videos in any commercial or monetized format.
- Altering headlines, quotes or captions in a way that changes context or accuracy.
- Reposting to third-party aggregation platforms, social-media pages, or newsletters as original content.
- Selling, sublicensing or distributing MN CRIME or Midwest Crime content to other entities.
- Using images, video stills or graphics for marketing, advertising or political purposes.
- Embedding our content within AI-generated, automated or synthetic systems for redistribution.
4. Revocation and Enforcement
MN CRIME LLC reserves the right to revoke any license or informal permission if terms are violated. Unauthorized commercial use, misattribution or alteration may result in copyright enforcement, takedown requests, or legal action.
5. Governing Law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Minnesota and applicable U.S. copyright law. Venue for any disputes shall lie in the courts of Washington County, Minnesota.
