1 Dead, 1 Injured in North Minneapolis Crash

MnDOT traffic camera still shows the area of the crash Saturday afternoon

Minneapolis police are investigating a one-vehicle crash Saturday afternoon that left one man dead and another man with injuries near Lyndale Ave. N. & 51st Ave. N.

MPD says around 3 p.m., police were dispatched near the intersection and found one adult male outside of the vehicle and another male still inside. The man still inside the vehicle was dead at the scene, police say.

The man found outside of the vehicle was taken to Hennepin Healthcare with non-life-threatening injuries. Both are in their 20s, police said.

Initial information says the driver was at a high rate of speed near the intersection when he drove off the road and collided with a tree. MPD said the driver’s speed and possible impairment may have been a factor.

The deceased man’s name has not yet been released. Authorities did not say if either occupant was wearing a seat belt.
