A 19-year-old man died early Sunday morning after he was shot in north Minneapolis.
When they arrived, they found the man with a life-threatening gunshot wound. First responders attempted life-saving measures, but he died at the scene.
Police say the shooter fled before officers arrived and no arrests have been announced as of early Sunday afternoon.
Forensic scientists processed the scene for evidence, and investigators are continuing to review what led to the shooting.
“Investigators are working diligently to gather information and learn what happened,” Police Chief Brian O’Hara said in a written statement. “We are working to do everything we can to find justice for this victim and his family.”

The Hennepin County Medical Examiner has identified the victim as Darnell Hawkins Mapp, 19, of Saint Paul. He died of multiple gunshot wounds and his manner of death was ruled a homicide.
