A woman from Rosemount died early Monday morning after a crash involving a semi truck on Highway 14 in Steele County, according to the Minnesota State Patrol.
Emergency responders were called just after 4:25 a.m. to the eastbound lanes of Highway 14 near Highway 218 in Owatonna Township.
According to initial information, a 2019 Kia Optima and a 2025 Freightliner Cascadia were both traveling eastbound when the two vehicles collided.
The driver of the Kia, identified as 23-year-old Nybol Chol Dhul, of Rosemount, died at the scene. Troopers confirmed that she was wearing a seat belt and that the car’s airbags deployed. No information has been released regarding whether alcohol may have played a role.
The driver of the semi, a 48-year-old man of Saint Peter, was not injured. State Patrol reports he was wearing a seat belt and alcohol was not involved in his case.
Road conditions were listed as wet at the time of the crash. The Steele County Sheriff’s Office, Owatonna Police Department, Owatonna Fire Department and Mayo Ambulance also responded.
The crash remains under investigation.
