36-year-old Dies After Truck Rolls into Water

Authorities say a 36-year-old man from Indiana is dead after his pickup truck rolled off a rural highway and landed upside down in water Monday night in Stearns County.

The Minnesota State Patrol says the crash happened just before 10 p.m. on Sept. 23, as Charles Wesley Mullins of Ellettsville, Ind., was driving a 2005 Ford F150 northbound on Highway 22 in Munson Township.

Mullins left the road, rolled and the pickup came to rest partially submerged in water near the intersection of Edgeton Road.

First responders from the Stearns County Sheriff’s Office, Cold Spring Police Department and Chain of Lakes Fire Department were called to the scene. Despite their efforts, Mullins was pronounced dead shortly after. Alcohol was reported to be a factor in the crash.

Road conditions were dry at the time and no other vehicles were involved in the crash. The crash remains under investigation.
