Overnight Shooting in Minneapolis Leaves 1 Dead, 2 Injured
Minneapolis Police are investigating a shooting that occurred late Friday night near Lake Street and Park Avenue, leaving one man dead, and two others injured.
According to police, officers from the Third Precinct responded to reports of gunfire at approximately 11:30 p.m. last night.
Upon arrival, officers found a man outside with apparent life-threatening gunshot wounds. Emergency medical aid was provided on the scene until paramedics arrived. The injured man was then transported to Hennepin Healthcare, where he was later pronounced dead.
Shortly after the initial report, two other men arrived separately at local hospitals with non-life-threatening gunshot wounds. One victim arrived at Abbott Northwestern Hospital, and the other was brought to Hennepin Healthcare. Investigators believe both men were injured during the same shooting incident near Lake Street and Park Avenue.
Preliminary information suggests a group was gathered in the area when a verbal altercation escalated into gunfire. Officers secured the scene and conducted a thorough search of the area, while MPD Forensic Scientists processed the scene for evidence.
Investigators are actively working to determine the circumstances that led to the shooting. The Hennepin County Medical Examiner will release the identity of the deceased man, along with the official cause and manner of death at a later time.
