A 44-year-old Big Lake man suffered life-threatening injuries Monday night after state troopers say he crashed into a bus on northbound Highway 77 in Apple Valley.

The crash happened around 9:56 p.m., just south of Interstate 35E.

The Minnesota State Patrol says Ryan Matthew Ebert was driving a 2024 Ram 1500 northbound on Hwy. 77 when he collided with a Transit bus and the cable barrier. Ebert was taken to Hennepin County Medical Center in Minneapolis with life-threatening injuries.

Alcohol was involved, according to the crash report, though more information on the driver’s alleged level of intoxication was available as of publication.

The driver of the bus, a 65-year-old man from Apple Valley, was taken to M Health Fairview Ridges Hospital in Burnsville with non-life-threatening injuries.

Troopers reported dry road conditions at the time of the crash. Apple Valley police and fire crews, Allina EMS and the Minnesota Department of Transportation assisted at the scene.
