A driver was critically hurt Thursday morning after crashing into a home in Brooklyn Park, causing the deck of the house to collapse onto the vehicle.
Police say the crash was first reported around 10:42 a.m. Dec. 4, in the 6200 block of West Broadway.
Officers arrived to find the car beneath the collapsed deck with significant structural damage around it. The driver, an adult male and the only person in the vehicle, was still inside when crews reached him. Brooklyn Park Fire worked with officers to remove him from the wreckage before first aid was given.
North Memorial paramedics then took the man to a hospital, where he remains in critical condition as of publication.
The Minnesota State Patrol was called to assist with accident reconstruction and Hennepin County crime scene personnel responded to document the scene. Officials haven’t said what caused the driver to leave the roadway and strike the house and the investigation continues.
