A man died after he was found shot in an East Side neighborhood of Saint Paul on Thursday night, police confirm.

Officers were called just before 9:15 p.m. to the 900 block of Edgerton Street after 911 callers reported gunfire and one saw a man slumped near a vehicle.

Police arrived and found an adult male with a gunshot wound to his upper torso near Case Avenue East and Edgerton. They began first aid until Saint Paul Fire medics took over and brought him to Regions Hospital, where he was pronounced dead a short time later.

Initial info indicated the shooter may have left the area in a black Bronco headed west on Case. Officers set up a perimeter and requested a police drone and Minnesota State Patrol flight support as they worked to lock down the scene. Traffic was shut down on Edgerton from Jenks Avenue to Case while investigators searched the area.

The Forensic Services Unit processed the scene for evidence, and investigators are still working to determine what led up to the shooting. Police said the Ramsey County Medical Examiner will conduct an autopsy to confirm the man’s identity and determine his exact causes of death. His name has not yet been released.

This is the thirteenth homicide of 2025 in Saint Paul, the department said, and authorities have not announced any arrests or any suspect information as of publication.
