Saint Paul police say a federal agent was involved in a use-of-force incident Sunday morning after being struck by a driver.
According to a SPPD spokesperson, officers were called to the 1300 block of Westminster Street just after 8:20 a.m. on Dec. 21 for a report of shots fired.
When officers arrived, they learned a federal agent had been involved in the incident.
Initial information provided to police indicated the agent was hit by a driver and then fired their service weapon in return. The agent suffered non-life-threatening injuries and authorities said the suspect was not injured.
The suspect driver was taken into custody by federal agents at the scene and has not yet been identified.
Saint Paul police said their officers were not involved in the arrest and did not use force during the incident. The department did not release additional details about the circumstances leading up to the encounter or the identities of those involved as of publication.
