A Fridley man convicted in a Coon Rapids triple murder will spend the rest of his life in prison after being sentenced.

A jury earlier this year found 39-year-old Alonzo Pierre Mingo guilty of fatally shooting three people during a Jan. 26, 2024, attack inside a home.

Court records show Mingo was convicted of two counts of first-degree premeditated murder and one count of first-degree murder while committing a felony. He was acquitted of one additional count of aiding and abetting first-degree murder. Mingo was also found guilty on several other charges but did not receive a sentence.

A judge sentenced Mingo to two consecutive life sentences without the possibility of parole on two first-degree murder counts, and an additional consecutive life-sentence with the possibility of parole on the third murder charge.

The case stemmed from what prosecutors described as a planned ambush, where three people were gunned down during an armed home invasion. Evidence presented at trial tied Mingo to the shootings through ballistics, eyewitness accounts and his role in coordinating the attack.

The jury’s verdict and sentencing order mean Mingo will remain in prison for life, with no chance of release. Court cases against two co-defendants are still ongoing.
