A man is in critical condition after a stabbing in Brooklyn Park early Wednesday morning, police say.

A Brooklyn Park Police Department spokesperson said officers were called to the 5800 block of 73rd Avenue North just after midnight, at about 12:12 a.m.

When officers arrived, they found a man suffering from multiple stab wounds. He was given emergency care at the scene and then transported to a nearby hospital, where he remains in critical condition.

BPPD said investigators are working to determine what led to the attack. No arrests have been made and no suspects are in custody as of late Wednesday morning. Authorities have not yet disclosed whether they believe the victim knew the attacker or if the stabbing was a random incident.

The department said the case remains active and officers will continue following leads to identify those responsible. Anyone with information is urged to contact Brooklyn Park police at (763) 493-8222.

Authorities have not released the name or age of the man who was injured.
