Naked Saint Paul Intruder Charged with Burglary
Formal charges have been filed against William Kweku Enin, 24, following an alleged burglary early Sept. 1 at a residence on Marshall Avenue in Saint Paul.
According to the criminal complaint, Saint Paul police were dispatched to the home around 3:37 a.m. after a 16-year-old girl reported seeing a man in her bedroom closet. The suspect reportedly fled the room after apologizing.
The homeowner told officers he encountered Enin downstairs wearing his daughter’s clothing. Enin allegedly claimed, “Home, my name is Williams, God called me to come here.” During the brief exchange, Enin also stated, “I was led here, you left the front door open, so I just walked in, next time lock your doors. Why would you leave your door unlocked?” At that pont, Enin left the residence.
While reviewing surveillance footage, the homeowner noticed that Enin had arrived completely naked with only a towel wrapped around his waist, made food in the kitchen, turned on the television, and taken $50 from the home.
Enin was later identified based on body-worn camera footage from a separate incident earlier that day, where he was seen walking naked in another yard.
Enin has been charged with first-degree burglary and remains in custody on $35,000 bail, with conditions that he must stay away from the victim’s residence. A judge also ordered a hearing to determine Enin’s mental competency. He faces a maximum sentence of 20 years in prison if convicted. His next court appearance is scheduled for later this month.
