One person died Friday afternoon after a collision between a semi truck and a car in Eyota Township.
According to initial info from the State Patrol, the crash happened around 1:45 p.m.
A northbound semi driver on Olmsted County Road 7 entered the intersection as the driver of a Chevrolet Impala came off the eastbound Interstate 90 exit ramp. The driver of the Impala crossed County Road 7 and was struck in the middle of the intersection.
The State Patrol says the Impala was driven by a 41-year-old man from Hayward, Wisconsin. He suffered non-life-threatening injuries. His passenger, 34-year-old Taylor Alix Hermeier, of La Crosse, Wisconsin died at the scene. A 37-year-old man from Rochester was driving the semi and was not injured.
The State Patrol has not said whether speed, impairment or other factors may have contributed. The crash remains under investigation with assistance from the Olmsted County Sheriff’s Office.
