2 Teenagers Dead After Icy Carlton County Crash

The Minnesota State Patrol is investigating a crash that left two teenagers dead in Carlton County just after midnight Saturday.

According to the State Patrol, a 2000 Volvo V70—the only vehicle involved—was traveling southbound on Highway 23 and entering a curve.

At some point, the driver hit ice, causing him to lose control of the vehicle before crashing into the east ditch.

The Minnesota State Patrol says 19-year-old Kaden James Tuura, of Duluth, was driving the vehicle and 14-year-old Aubrey Suzzanne Turra, of Barnum, was the passenger.

Neither were wearing seatbelts and alcohol is not suspected to be a factor. Both Kaden and Aubrey were pronounced deceased at the scene. According to multiple Facebook posts, the two were siblings.
