Two women arrived at Hennepin Healthcare with gunshot wounds late Saturday night after someone opened fire on their vehicle, according to Minneapolis police.

First Precinct officers responded to the hospital after a report of a shooting victim just before midnight.

They spoke with the two women, who had driven themselves to the hospital. One woman had a life-threatening gunshot wound. The second woman was also struck but had injuries described as not life-threatening, a department spokesperson said.

Initial information indicates both were inside a vehicle when someone opened fire on it. Police say the shooting happened along Interstate 394, and crime lab units were seen near Penn Avenue collecting evidence around 2:30 a.m. Monday.

Officers canvassed the area and secured the vehicle for evidence. Forensic scientists from the Minneapolis Police Department processed the scene and, as of publication, no arrests have been made.

Investigators continue working to determine who fired the gunshots and where the shooting happened. They have not released the names of those involved or any suspect information.
