A woman is dead and another was transported to the hospital with serious injuries after a two-vehicle rollover crash in Isanti County.
Sheriff’s deputies responded to the intersection of Durant Street NE and 269th Avenue NE in Athens Township at around 9:35 a.m. on Wednesday, March 4.
Emergency crews performed extrication at the scene.
One of the women was given CPR by first responders but was ultimately pronounced dead at the scene. Her name has not been released and is pending positive identification by the Midwest Medical Examiner's Office.
The woman from the second vehicle suffered serious injuries and was transported to Cambridge Medical Center. A medical helicopter was initially requested but was unable to fly due to fog in the area at the time of the crash.
The Minnesota State Patrol responded to assist with crash reconstruction and is conducting a cooperative investigation alongside the Isanti County Sheriff's Office. No details have been released about what caused the collision or the types of vehicles involved.
The Isanti Police Department, Isanti Fire, Isanti County Safety Rescue and Allina also assisted at the scene.
