A 36-year-old woman died Sunday afternoon after she was struck by a driver outside a home in Saint Paul.
Officers were called at about 2:30 p.m. to the 1000 block of Stinson Street on a report of a crash with injuries.
They arrived to find the woman unresponsive in the yard near a vehicle that had come to a stop after striking her. Paramedics with Saint Paul Fire attempted lifesaving measures but pronounced her dead at the scene.
Police say the driver, an adult male, remained at the location and is cooperating with investigators. No arrests had been made at the time of publication.
Early evidence indicates the driver struck the woman before the vehicle came to a stop in the backyard. Authorities have not yet confirmed if the driver and the woman knew each other or if charges may be filed.
The Saint Paul Police Traffic and Accident Unit is investigating to determine what led to the crash. The Ramsey County Medical Examiner’s Office is expected to release the woman’s identity and official cause of death in the coming days.
