1 Dead in Shooting on Saint Paul's West Side

Saint Paul police have confirmed their sixth homicide investigation of the year after a man was fatally shot late Tuesday around 10:15 p.m., on the 700 block of Winslow Ave., in the city’s West Side neighborhood. 

Police were dispatched after multiple 911 callers reported that shots had been fired in a residential area. When squads arrived, they found an adult male in his 20s who had been shot. The victim was later pronounced deceased by paramedics. 

Responding officers secured the shooting scene and began to look for evidence and questioned potential witnesses. Investigators with the homicide unit and forensic service unit processed the scene and are working to identify any suspects.

According to Saint Paul Police, as of Wednesday morning no arrests have been made and investigators do not believe the shooting was random.

The Ramsey County Medical Examiner’s Office on Wednesday afternoon identified the man killed as Casanova G. Carter, 26, of Saint Paul.
