33-year-old Donald Isaiah Ealey was sentenced on Friday after he pled guilty to one count of aiding and abetting 1st-degree assault in exchange for two other counts being dropped. Police say were dispatched to the report of the crash around 1:30 a.m. Sunday on Freeway Boulevard near Xerxes Avenue North. Upon arrival, officers located one vehicle with extensive damage and two victims suffering from extensive injuries outside of the vehicle.

In a press release, police say the 7-year veteran was following a vehicle that had fled from officers the day before and matched the description of a vehicle involved in a robbery. The officer was following the vehicle when shots were fired from the suspect’s vehicle towards the officer. The officer was struck by automatic gunfire and suffered a non-life-threatening gunshot wound.
12-year-old Boy Killed in Shooting; 14-year-old Arrested
Saint Paul police are investigating the fatal shooting of a 12-year-old boy early this morning on the 200 block of Stinson St. and a 14-year-old boy has been arrested. Officers were called just before 5 a.m. for a juvenile male who had been shot. When officers arrived, they located the 12-year-old who was suffering from an apparent gunshot wound.
