2 Dead, 1 Hospitalized After Being Found Unresponsive in Garage
One person is dead and two others were transported to the hospital after being found unresponsive in a garage in Eyota, Minn. from an unknown cause.
Shortly after 1 a.m. on Saturday, emergency crews were dispatched to the 500 block of Canyon Lane NW after three males were found unresponsive in a residential garage. Initial arriving units reported that two of the three males were in cardiac arrest, and one was unresponsive but breathing.
One male was pronounced dead at the scene, and the other two were transported to Saint Mary’s Hospital where their current condition is unknown. The cause of this incident has not been released, however, a report given over the radio stated that Narcan was administered, which is given in suspected opioid drug overdoses. The gas company was also requested to check for possible leaks of carbon monoxide.
The Olmsted County Sheriff’s Office is investigating. The Eyota Fire Department, Eyota Ambulance, Saint Charles Ambulance, Mayo Clinic Ambulance, and Mayo One also assisted on the scene.
More information and the cause of death is expected to be released at a later time.
UPDATE: The Olmsted County Sheriff has reported that a second victim was pronounced deceased at the hospital. The third victim was treated and released from the hospital. According to preliminary autopsy reports, the two individuals died as a result of cocaine toxicity. Further testing is being done to determine if there were other substances that contributed to the deaths.
