2 Dead After Motorcycle Crash in Newport

NEWPORT—The Minnesota State Patrol is investigating a motorcycle crash that resulted in the deaths of two people Friday night.

The crash was reported to authorities just after 6:15 p.m.

According to the State Patrol, a 2007 Harley Davidson motorcycle was traveling northbound on Highway 61 and taking the exit to I-494 when it veered off the roadway, rolled and came to rest in the grass median.

A man and a woman, both age 41 and from Inver Grove Heights, were pronounced deceased at the scene. They had not yet been identified as of late Friday evening.

The State Patrol says road conditions were dry at the time of the crash.

The ramp was closed while the Minnesota State Patrol reconstructed the crash.

UPDATE: The State Patrol on Saturday identified the two people killed in the crash as Brandon M. Mckeon, 41, and Kecia L. Mckeon, 41, of Inver Grove Heights.

Both riders were not wearing helmets.
