2 Injured in Early Sunday Shooting in Lakeville

Police in Lakeville are investigating a shooting that left two people injured early Sunday morning.

Dispatch got the first reports of gunfire near Foliage Avenue and Gerdine Path at around 2:45 a.m. on Oct. 6, 2024.

Initial investigation suggests the shooting took place in the 16200 block of Florida Way, police said. Not long after the incident, two people showed up at a nearby hospital and both had gunshot wounds. Investigators believe both people are connected to the same shooting. Their injuries are reported to be non-life-threatening and they are still hospitalized as of mid-afternoon Sunday.

More information including their ages, genders and the extent of their injuries, was not immediately disclosed.

Detectives are conducting interviews with several “possible suspects” and witnesses, police said. No arrests have been made and no further information yet released on what may have led to the gunfire.

Residents in the area reported hearing the shots and several took to social media to share their concerns Sunday morning. One person posted in our Facebook group, MN CRIME WATCHERS, that they heard five to seven gunshots and a detective later reached out to them for information.

Lakeville police say there’s no ongoing threat to safety and more information is expected within the coming days as information develops.
