Two men were killed and a woman was injured in separate shootings in Minneapolis late Thursday to early Friday morning, police confirm.
MPD is now asking for the public’s help as they investigate both cases and search for suspects.
Officers responded to the first shooting at 8:50 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 6 on the 2400 block of 18th Avenue South. A 31-year-old man was found with life-threatening gunshot wounds and officers rendered medical aid before he was taken to Hennepin Healthcare, where he later died. Investigators say shots were fired at close range before a group of three to four people fled the area on foot. No arrests have been made as of publication.
"This shooting, which occurred at close range, is especially troubling," Minneapolis Police Chief Brian O’Hara said. "Our investigators are working to identify those responsible.”
Then just before 2 a.m. Friday, officers responded to a second shooting on the 2500 block of 26th Avenue North, where they found a man and woman inside a home, both with gunshot wounds. The man, in his 20s, was critically wounded and died at the scene despite lifesaving efforts. The woman, also in her 20s, was transported to Hennepin Healthcare with injuries officials described as non-life-threatening. Initial info says the shots were fired from outside the home, hitting both victims as they were inside.

O’Hara said detectives are actively investigating both shootings but do not believe they are connected.
“This is the second homicide in less than four hours, and it also appears to be targeted,” O’Hara said, urging anyone with information on either shooting to come forward now.
MPD Forensic Scientists processed both scenes and officers canvassed the surrounding areas. Investigators are working to determine the circumstances leading up to both shootings and no suspects have been publicly identified.
