2 More Minnesotans Arrested in Connection to January U.S. Capitol Riot
Two more Minnesotans who authorities accuse of being involved in the deadly riot and breach of the U.S. Capitol were arrested on Friday, June 11, the FBI said.
The two men join three other Minnesotans who were previously charged in relation to the events on Jan. 6th in Washington, D.C.
Brian Christopher Mock, 42, of Minneapolis, faces four charges:
Assaulting, Resisting or Impeding Certain Officers
Knowingly Entering or Remaining in any Restricted Building or Grounds without Lawful Authority; Disorderly and Disruptive Conduct in a Restricted Building or Grounds
Obstruction of Law Enforcement During Civil Disorder
Acts of Physical Violence in any of the Capitol Buildings or Grounds
The FBI alleges that Mock can be seen on video recorded during the incident, kicking a Capitol police officer and shoving them to the ground. He was seen in the video shoving another officer before picking up multiple police shields and passing them to others in the mob.
Mock was arrested Friday in Minneapolis and was scheduled to make his first court appearance the same day.
Also arrested Friday morning was Daniel Johnson, 29, of Austin, Minn. He’s charged with:
Entering and Remaining in a Restricted Building
Disorderly and Disruptive Conduct in a Restricted Building
Violent Entry and Disorderly Conduct in a Capitol Building
Parading, Demonstrating or Picketing in a Capitol Building
Johnson allegedly stormed the Capitol, along with his father Daryl, and shared on social media messages like, "We stormed capitol hill,” and "Lol Dad and I were one of the first ones inside.”
The complaint says investigators identified Johnson and his father, who lives in Iowa, through video of the incident and subsequent tips. Search warrants for both men's Facebook pages also uncovered posts and photos placing them at the scene.
