A 24-year-old man spent two weeks sending sexually explicit messages and pornographic images to someone he believed was a 15-year-old girl before driving to Chanhassen to meet her for sex, charges say. He was arrested on arrival.

Jose Antonio Gutierrez, of Jordan, faces three charges in Carver County, including solicitation of a child to engage in sexual conduct, distributing pornographic work to a minor and electronic solicitation of a child.

According to the criminal complaint, a Carver County sheriff's detective was conducting an undercover child solicitation operation on social media in March 2026. The detective created an undercover profile on Reddit using photographs of a young-looking female.

On March 5, Gutierrez messaged the undercover account on Reddit. The detective told him she was 15 years old. Gutierrez responded that her being under 18 "was not an issue for him" and asked if she wanted to meet up, the complaint says.

Over the following days, the messages escalated. On March 9 and 10, Gutierrez asked if the girl ever sneaks out and said he was "down" to do something in his car. On March 11, he described a sexual scenario he called a "breeding game" in graphic detail and asked the girl to participate, court documents say. He sent multiple pornographic images to the account, including content depicting forced sexual acts, and requested explicit photos in return.

The messages continued through March 12, 16, 17 and 18. Gutierrez sent additional pornographic images — including content with titles referencing rape — and made increasingly explicit statements about what he planned to do when they met, according to the complaint.

On Thursday, March 19, Gutierrez arranged to meet in Chanhassen. When he arrived at the agreed-upon location, officers placed him under arrest. A confirmation text sent to the phone number the detective had been messaging was received on Gutierrez's phone.

After waiving his Miranda rights, Gutierrez admitted he knew the person he'd been communicating with said she was 15 years old. He admitted to sending the explicit content, to discussing sexual activity with the girl and to arriving at the location to have sex with her, telling investigators, "I was here to have sexual relations with a minor," the complaint states. He allegedly also told investigators he had an interest in "rape pornography."

Solicitation of a child to engage in sexual conduct carries a maximum sentence of 15 years in prison and a $30,000 fine.
