Two people died early Saturday after a driver fleeing a Ramsey County deputy crashed into a tree in Saint Paul, the Ramsey County Sheriff’s Office said.
Just after midnight Nov. 7, a deputy tried to stop an Acura RDX at Rose Avenue East and Burr Street North.
The driver fled, leading the deputy on a pursuit that lasted about 50 seconds and covered one mile.
The deputy stayed three blocks behind as the Acura reached speeds over 100 mph, hit a dip in the road at Wheelock Parkway, lost control and struck a tree at Payne and Nebraska avenues, the office said. The Acura sustained catastrophic damage and both occupants were ejected.
