Alcohol a Factor in Fatal South St. Paul Head-on Crash
One person died late Monday afternoon after a head-on crash in South St. Paul, with the woman who reportedly caused the crash suspected of being under the influence, authorities say.
Around 3:20 p.m., officers responded to the report of a two-vehicle, head-on crash on Concord St. S. near Chestnut St. with multiple injuries.

According to preliminary investigation, a 55-year-old man from Oakdale was driving a pickup northbound on Concord St. when he was struck head-on by a southbound minivan that had crossed into the northbound lane, police said.
The 55-year-old driver of the pickup suffered serious injuries and was transported to an area hospital for treatment.
Two passengers in the minivan had critical injuries and were transported to an area hospital where one was later pronounced deceased. The deceased passenger has not yet been named and the ages of the passengers was also not initially released.
The driver of the minivan, a 53-year-old woman from North St. Paul, was taken into custody on probable cause criminal vehicular operation and transported to an area hospital for treatment. It is believed alcohol impairment played a role in this crash, police say.
An investigation into the fatal crash is being conducted by the South St. Paul Police Department, the Minnesota State Patrol and the Ramsey County Medical Examiner's Office.
