Champlin Man Arrested at MSP Airport After Domestic Assault in Kandiyohi Co.
A Champlin man was arrested Monday night at the Minneapolis-St. Paul airport after a reported domestic assault and gunshot fired in the city of Spicer that occurred early Sunday morning.
According to a media release from the Kandiyohi County Sheriff's Office, on Sunday, Feb. 27 at about 4 a.m., they received a report of an assault with a firearm in the area of 100 Lake Ave. N. in Spicer, northeast of Willmar.
Responding deputies learned from the 31-year-old female victim that she had just been physically assaulted by an adult male and during the course of the assault, the suspect discharged a firearm.
During the course of the investigation, sheriff's deputies identified the suspect as 31-year-old Ashir Hassan Kimbrough, of Champlin, Minn.

On Monday, Feb. 28th at about 9:30 p.m., Kimbrough was arrested at the Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport and is currently being held in the Kandiyohi County Jail on several counts of criminal sexual conduct, kidnapping and reckless discharge of a firearm, jail records show.
The Kandiyohi County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Willmar Police Department, Champlin Police Department, Golden Valley Police Department and the MSP Airport Police Department.
