Cottage Grove Man Federally Charged in Bank Robbery Spree

A 43-year-old Cottage Grove man has been federally charged in connection to a string of Twin Cities bank robberies that were carried out in Nov. 2021.

Michael Thomas Prall is charged with three counts of bank robbery and made his first court appearance Wednesday.

Charges say he used “force, violence and intimidation” to steal thousands of dollars from three different bank branches over three days.

On Nov. 5, Prall allegedly stole about $2,500 from U.S. Bank in Bloomington.

Nov. 19, he’s accused of stealing more than $4,500 from a Bremer Bank in Woodbury.

And On Nov. 30, prosecutors say he stole approximately $775 from a Wells Fargo branch in Cottage Grove, according to a media release from the Dept. of Justice.

Prall remains in custody pending further court proceedings. Investigating agencies included the FBI, the Cottage Grove Police Department, the Woodbury Police Department, the Bloomington Police Department and the Washington County Sheriff’s Office.
