Ex-Boyfriend Arrested After Maddi Kingsbury Found Dead

A body was recovered during the search for Madeline Kingsbury on Wednesday afternoon and her ex-boyfriend Adam Fravel has been arrested in connection with her disappearance.

The body was found in a patch of brush off Hwy. 43 north of Mabel, Minn., on Wednesday afternoon, about 60 miles southeast of Rochester. Authorities were working to positively identify the remains and confirmed on Thursday afternoon that the body was Kingsbury.

Kingsbury, 26, of Winona, had been missing since March 31 and massive search efforts in the area were unsuccessful in finding her.

Fravel, 29, her former partner and father of her two children, is initially being charged with 2nd-degree murder with intent. Fravel is currently being held in the Winona County Jail and has publicly claimed his innocence.

Kingsbury’s father, David Kingsbury, released this statement:

“We’re relieved that Madeline has been found after months of intensive searching and grateful for the extraordinary efforts by law enforcement, other first responders and volunteers. We’re certain that the correct person has been arrested, will be appropriately charged, and convicted of his crimes. Things are moving in the right direction there and we look forward to getting justice for Madeline. For right now we will mourn as a family and properly and respectfully lay her to rest.”

UPDATE: Formal Charges Filed Against Fravel

From the Winona Police Department:

“A Fillmore County deputy found human remains on Wednesday afternoon north of Mabel, Minnesota. The body was found in some brush off Highway 43 and was located using information generated during the Madeline Kingsbury investigation. Because of this, law enforcement personnel have arrested Adam Fravel on probable cause in connection to her disappearance.

Numerous members of the Winona Police Department, the Winona County Sheriff’s Office, the Fillmore County Sheriff’s Office, the Southeast Minnesota Violent Crimes Enforcement Team, Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension (BCA) agents and crime scene personnel, and the Southern Minnesota Regional Medical Examiner’s Office are working as quickly as possible to positively identify the remains.

We are asking the community to respect the family’s privacy at this time and not to speculate on the case until further information is made available. We will share an update tomorrow once we have more information confirmed.”
