Man Dead After Fight Leads to Gunfire in Minneapolis
A man was killed in a shooting that stemmed from a fight at a party early Saturday in Minneapolis.
Just before 6 a.m. on Oct. 19, Fourth Precinct officers responded to a ShotSpotter activation on the 1700 block of 26th Avenue North. While en route, the call was updated to a shooting.

When officers arrived, they found a man with life-threatening injuries. Officers provided medical aid until paramedics arrived, but the man was pronounced dead at the scene.
Preliminary information indicates a fight broke out at a nearby party before spilling into the street, where it escalated to gunfire. During the response, officers encountered a man still fighting and who refused multiple commands to leave. He was arrested for disorderly conduct. Investigators are working to determine if the man had any involvement in the shooting.
“Today, tragically, another family has been ripped apart by gun violence,” said Police Chief Brian O’Hara. “Our investigators are committed to solving this crime and giving a voice to those who can no longer speak for themselves.”
The Minneapolis Forensic Division processed the scene and officers canvassed the area for evidence and witnesses. The Hennepin County Medical Examiner will release the identity of the deceased and the official cause of death.
