SAINT PAUL—A man was fatally shot early Tuesday evening in the Thomas-Dale neighborhood in what was initially reported as a robbery, with the suspects fleeing the scene in a vehicle.

Police say around 6:35 p.m., officers were sent to the area of Thomas Ave. & Grotto St., where they found an adult male victim with apparent gunshot wounds. The man was taken to the hospital but was later declared deceased.

Saint Paul police say there have been no arrests made in connection to the shooting as of late Tuesday night.

It’s the 2nd homicide in the city so far this week and the 29th of the year.

According to initial law enforcement dispatch audio reviewed by MN CRIME, the victim was found shot in the stomach and face. Witnesses told police that two male suspects in their early 20s robbed the victim and then fired up to two-dozen gunshots, though that has not been confirmed by authorities.

Witnesses also reported the suspects fled eastbound in a blue-green Kia, but no official suspect information has been released.

UPDATE—The Ramsey County Medical Examiner has identified the victim of the shooting as Marcus Darnell Miller, a 24-year-old man from Saint Paul. Police say investigation is continuing.
